WHAT WE BELIEVE

Preface: We are an independent, Fundamental, Bible-believing, traditional, Baptist Church.

Independent – GBC operates under no council or diocese and is governed by the Word of God and the Holy Spirit, free of human organizations or synods.

Fundamental – GBC holds to the core tenets of the faith, such as the inerrant inspiration of Scripture, the deity of Christ, the Virgin Birth, the death, burial and resurrection of Christ and His visible, physical return.

Bible-believing – GBC derives all beliefs and practices from the Scripture and holds to the Bible as the supreme standard for moral and spiritual guidance. We believe in the Received Greek Text (Textus Receptus) and use the Authorized King James Version due to its supremacy as the best English translation in History, having been translated by the most qualified, sanctified and conservative group of men in History. We believe it to not only contain the Word of God, but that it IS THE WORD OF GOD. We reject the liberal teachings of Textual Criticism and the work of the heretical apostates Wescott and Hort and their Critical Greek Text–from which all other English translations have come.

Traditional – GBC believes the Bible teaches reverence in worship and therefore rejects the use of modern worship methods, CCM, “canned music”, and music that mimics worldly styles that take away from the central focus of God’s holiness.

Baptist – GBC is Baptist in the historical meaning that we believe in a undershepherd answering only to the Great Shepherd Jesus Christ, the priesthood of the believer, meaning he needs no human priest, the ordinance of the Lord’s Supper and Believers’ Baptism. Concerning the Lord’s Supper, it is for born-again believers only and is to be taken with unleavened bread as Scripture commands and with nonalcoholic grape juice. It is not mystical, but only symbolic of Christ’s perfect, broken body and precious, shed blood. Concerning Baptism, we reject the heretical practice of infant baptism and adhere to the Scriptural teaching that it is a symbolic testimony for one who has confessed Christ as Lord and is merely symbolic of joining with Him in His death, burial and resurrection.
